Lara

Lara is located on the west of the island and can be reached by following the road through Agios Gergios. The road is a gravel road and is about 5 miles in length. The road is not really suitable for normal cars and so you have to drive slowly to prevent damage to the vehicle. A 4*4 vehicle would be ideal on this type of road, but for a normal car it is not wise to travel quickly. It took me about 30 minutes to travel 5 miles on the gravel road.

A hatchary has been established at Lara for sea turtles. If you are lucky enough and go there at the right time you may catch a glimpse of these marvellous animals.

Lara road The road to Lara is gravel most of the way. When you reach the beach at Lara the road forks and turns into a sand road. A normal car will not drive too well on a sand road and so it's best if you don't attempt to drive on it.
